I Tried to Master These Words That Appeared in a Recent News Article

Halloween is over, but...

When I was reading an article from the Associated Press
on November 19 on President Trump’s impeachment inquiry,
the following words appeared several times in the article:

“denounce, ousted, extortion, dismissive, apprehension, denounce,
assail, censure, intimidating, and probe”.

I decided to write two stories using the above words to
learn the meaning of these words.

They are not pleasant words, but this topic is
about impeachment, not a happy story after all.

Since my memory is fresh, I’m going to summarize former U.S.
Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch’s testimony before the House
Intelligence Committee that is the second public
impeachment hearing of President Trump.

Here we go:
(Story 1)

(from Associated Press)

Ousted ambassador to Ukraine Yovanovitch testified
the chilling detail of her story. First, she was denounced
by Trump in a phone call to Ukraine, where she presided as
Ambassador. The President Trump was dismissive of her.
She thought that the President’s order was extortion.

Trump assailed her as “bad news”.

Trump tweeted from the White House and went after
her as Yovanovitch was speaking at the hearing.

She said that it’s very intimidating to have such
censure.

(Story 2)
I’m going to write a different story using the above words.
Politics is too heavy for my taste. The next story is about
our family dog, Sandy we used to own.

Sandy came to our house about 30 years ago since my
son really wanted to have a dog.

Sandy’s breed was a beagle. She was
not house trained yet.

We started the process of house training her. She was very stubborn.
So, I had to extort her. If she went outside for her bathroom business, I gave her a treat.
Bribery? But it worked. She did not want to be
censured by me. Because I was the one that fed her and
walked her every day. She probed her situation
quickly.

When Sandy saw our suitcases by the door. She knew she
had to go to a kennel. Her apprehension went
sky high. She was very intimidated. She hid under the
couch even I tried to bribe her by giving her a piece of
turkey meat that she loved most.

For her, going to the kennel was a kind of denunciation.
Don’t worry, a little girl, we will be back, we had to tell
her each time. Sandy was our beloved but very stubborn
dog.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dogs are our friends. Sandy and our friend's dogs.
